Erin started riding at the age of 9, and was fortunate to spend several years training with Mike McCormick and Tracy Fenney showing a variety of sale horses and catch rides. In 2010, she went on the road as a working student with accomplished international grand prix rider, Wilhelm Genn. Erin eventually found herself back in Texas to team up with brother, Chris Nelson at Grand Prix Stables. 

Junior Career Highlights:

  • Reserve horse of the year: Junior Hunters
  • World Championship Junior Hunter Rider for the South Central Region
  • Winner of the $25,000 Grand Prix of the Southwest
  • Multiple top 10 grand prix finishes
  • Recipient of the Shallano Style of Riding award at the Devon Horse Show

After her Junior years, Erin rode as a NCAA Athlete for Southern Methodist University while continuing to be competitive in the grand prix ring and under 25 series. She began her professional career in 2016 as rider, assistant trainer and IEA assistant coast for Dallas-based Silent Knight Stables. 

She is now looking forward to continuing her career on the West Coast with Patrick Seaton Stables.
